Wrecker's Cave

Notes & Tips

  1. Hole to the entrance
  2. Mordus
  3. Hatch

Note: you may find the battles in Wrecker's Cave too hard. In that case, try to enter the cave through the entrance near the waypoint, it will lead you right to Mordus. If you have teleporter pyramid with you, you can use it to regroup.

Inside Wrecker's Cave you will find a survivor and while there appears to be no way to explore further, when you investigate the end of the cave four storm wing void woken will appear and attack you. You and your team members will be taken separately to the depths of the cave and dropped in different areas of the map. You can use the Teleporter Pyramids to get the group back together.

It is possible to win the fight against the voidwoken, though they can be tough opponents.  To get down in this case, there is a hidden tunnel that connects this upper area to the east side of the area map; the upper end of the tunnel is located near x:557 y:584, just south of the table with playing cards in the area where the voidwoken appear.  That can be found with wits and then dug up with a shovel or a lizard character.  You can also jump or teleport down from the upper area to a platform near where Mordus is.

If you got abducted, one of your team members (whoever the main character is) will be locked in a room without enemies called the Weapon Chamber Room. This room looks like a few wooden ship frames with anchors and a bunch of barrels and boxes to loot. Explore your surroundings, loot what you'd like, and you will find some letters regarding quests Shadow over Driftwood and The Law of the Order. You will also find a dwarf woman named Zanisima the Scientist (standing in front of a desk with glowing artifacts on it) and speaking with her advances the personal quests of Ifan ben-Mezd and Beast. The exit is locked, so lockpick the door or move some barrels by the door to go behind a wooden wall and grab some loot and the Weapon Chamber Key.

If your character can't lockpick, find another companion who starts in a bedroom. The private chamber key is in his/her area.  However, this character needs to defeat several possessed dwarves and voidlings to get the key. If you want to leave this area now, try to find the hidden hole that will transport you to the entrance of the cave. You will need a shovel or lizard to dig this hole.

Note: Cast Spirit Vision and you will see many ghosts in this area, talk to them to learn what happened here.

The third party member is trapped in a cave full of voidlings. Use your other characters to save him/her. (Through a cave in the same area you find the key)

After you gathered all the companions, you can proceed to next area. (through a ladder in a shipwreck, near x626 y 599)

You will find Mordus in this area, he will attack you with his possessed henchmen. But once you strike him down, the battle is over. If you loot Mordus' Amulet from his body, you can use it to open a hatch in his chamber.

There is a hidden wall panel that can be found with wits located at x:548 y:686 (near the north exit in the area where Mordus is), which contains minor loot.

Mordus Voidwoken Boss Fight

If you do not kill Mordus quickly and he Source drains somebody, he will transform into a gigantic monster that can easily decimate your team in a few turns with its poisonous AoE attack. This monster is not intended to be fought (you're meant to reload a save and instead kill Mordus quickly), but it is not impossible to defeat it.

If you have a well-rounded team, it is possible to stunlock Mordus and slowly whittle down his Vitality. He is vulnerable to Freezing, Shocked, Knocked Down, Sleeping and Chicken Form, but be sure to examine him before making a move because his immunities will dynamically change (usually after an elemental attack) based on what state he is in (see below).

He does not have much Magic Armour which makes him vulnerable to elemental builds. As long as you can quickly drain either of its Armour types and then successfully get him into a stunlock, the fight will be in your favour. If Mordus manages to survive a stunlock, he will regenerate a tiny bit of both types of Armour, but not enough to hinder your strategy as long as you have enough skills to eat through it.

Be sure not to ignore any enemies you haven't killed yet, as they will be a slight hindrance to you during your fight with Mordus. Although they will not heal him, you should still finish them off promptly as each of them can do a sizeable amount of ranged damage to you.

After the fight, you will be rewarded with a large amount of experience and your dialogue with Mordus will continue as normal.

Note : if you kill Mordus before exploring the area, you will be missing on some EXP, as the possessed dwarves will no longer be staying.

Interesting, I was never kidnapped in Wreckers Cave. Is there a specific spot where it happens or something?

      • Anonymous

If you use Torturer and a movement impairing spell that works with Torturer (Tremor Worms), DO NOT cc the Voidwoken that abduct you as their "abduct skill" is pure melee they will resort to simply killing you via ranged attacks.

        • Anonymous

Playing DE. Those 4 abductor voidwokens can be lured one-by-one with one split team member and chain-teleported to where the other team members standby. You can easily dispatch without having any of your team member being abducted.

Mordus fight also has a huge loophole to cheese. Set your team stand on the edge of cliff past 4 abductor voidwokens, teleport on team member onto the lower platform and start the fight. The rest team member will not engage into the fight but their ranged attack can still reach the lower platforms. So when your fight-starter member gains control, you can spam unlimited range attacks with other team member as they'll not restricted by turns. You can easily kill all his minions for the extra EXP this way.

TBH, Mordus is not that hard to kill in one single turn and there is really no need to cheese, but you won't get extra EXP from the minions. It really doesn't make sense IMO. This game reward you a tons of more EXP from violent solutions and not all conflicts fit your character role playing. Larian should really reconsider their EXP scheme for different routes to finish a quest (or fight).

Summoner to clear the way, WP and pyramids for impatient people. Must say vampire's room give this zone good scare after you get of guard in other rooms, its also warning.

I'm a little upset that the game dropped my Main character into the impossible room.

I don't want my main character to have to be rescued by Skelly boy. What the F.U.C.C. game?

              • Anonymous

if you have (like me) a fully physical team and want to quickly isolate mordus and kill him with teleport, hide every corpse near the teleport (and your characters), otherwise he will source drain or jump on your characters and source drain from there

                • Anonymous

I accidently teleported out after the void monster took me inside of the cave, I couldn't finish the quest, how do I get back there ?

                  • Anonymous

You can cheese the hold Voidwoken part of this dungeon with Teleport and the Pyramids. In the initial room of the cave, in the area where you would get abducted by the Voidwoken, if you walk out onto the ship, you can Teleport a member of your party down to the area where Mordus is. Then use the Pyramid to teleport party down.

"If you do not kill Mordus quickly and he Source drains somebody, he will transform into a gigantic monster that can easily decimate your team in a few turns with its poisonous AoE attack. Well, I killed all the enemies before Mordus and he eventually turned into this beast. Everyone else but my team and mordus was dead by this point, so I had no problem killing this beast after all.

I did this at level 11. I did it in the expected order, but Mordus ended up being very easy. My Sebille ranger build with Far Out parked herself on the chest platform way above the entry to this encounter. Mordus ran up to my tank Prince at the top of the ramp, and Sebille was so far above and away that she could just manually aim and shoot without ever being engaged in turns. Kinda easy when you do it like that. I rationalized the exploit because I had thought it would be a great sniping platform. It just ended up being better than I thought.

"One of your team members (whoever the main character is) will be locked in a room without enemies called the Weapon Chamber Room." Seems to be false. My main Character is a Custom Character and he is always teleported to the Room full of vampires and gore and stuff. I relaoded my saves about 30minutes or so, but no luck. Quess I have to play one of the other Characters... not that it's a Bad thing its just... not "me" ^^

                          • Anonymous

I think I actually broke the game a bit I didnt realize it was a battle you were meant to lose at the start and I got Sebille and an incarnate champion through the battle without getting nabbed (the rest of the party is in lockup though)

                            • Anonymous

I think I did this backwards. I was exploring outside and couldn't figure out how to get to the shipwreck, so I had someone fly down (then unlock the waypoint). Then I took the party into the cave and Mordus was my first fight. My party was never split up forcefully.

                              • Anonymous

You can avoid having the party split up when you first enter the cave if you do not go near the dead sourcerer up near the NE camp area. Then get near the edge and teleport one party member with a pyramid to the deck below where the hatch is. Use the other pyramid to bring the rest of the party down. Then sneak into position.

                                • Anonymous

So when i enter the cave and met with Mordus, we engaged and he immediately use Source Vampirism on one of his grunt and turn into Mordus's Akaim. My party consisted of Red Prince and Lohse, both with "Lone Wolf" talent, and I made him my little *****. It was nice but then his corpse didn't have the gem so I can't get into the hatch :(

                                  • Anonymous

In case you don't understand the previous comments, go West from Cloisterwood and Eithne the undead Black Ring lady (who's looking for the corpse explosion book) and teleport one of your team down the cliff to the beach below. Get that one to grab the fast travel point near the shipwreck, go to the map and get the rest of your team to fast travel to that point. Now you can access the Wrecker's cave from the back entrance, and you'll find Mordus very quickly. For the Mordus fight, first of all teleport any nearby corpses far away. Then split one off your team and pre-position the rest at the back. The split one then start the fight and immediately teleport Mordus to the rest of your team. Afterwards it's all CC/stunlock and nuke. Once Mordus is "dead" the other mobs die, and the fight ends.

                                    • Anonymous

If you sneak in quick enough, you can skip being caught and wrapped, and go straight to Mordus by teleporting from where you get caught over to the ship from the top cliff. I did this, went down the hatch, and spent an hour trying to find him down there.

                                      • Anonymous

My main dude is a summoner and has 10 summoning, So i got him to basically find everyone walking around with a giant Incarnate literally beating doors open and wooping voids lol basically found everyone and strongman the whole thing.

                                        • Fight with this boss is extremely easy for elementalist - unlike other voidlings in the cave, fire is not for this one. Instead, "Ice and Thunder" solves the way - set the rain and hold propher rotation to permanently stun or freeze the ugly guy, just like with bridge trolls (here its easier, as freeze works too). He also dont have any water resistance so it hutrs him a lot :D

                                          • Anonymous

I entered the cave via the castle ruin entrance and yet no voidwoken ambushed me... I just used pyramids to teleport down straight to Mordus. How is that possible?

                                            • Anonymous

There is one way you can easily put Mordus down actually. Let your shooter (best with far out man talent) separate from the team and stand on the edge of the ship wreck. Then get your other members teleport down to the basin where to fight Mordus, then use teleport Mordus to a place within your shooter's range. Nailed it :)

                                              • Anonymous

Just did this and worked my way out to the waypoint outside the Mordus fight, but it looks like you cant get out of this cove without fast travelling, or backtracking through the cave again. What's with that?

                                                • Anonymous

make sure you search the body in the furthest chamber if you go down the hatch after getting Mordus' necklace.

                                                  • Anonymous

if you wait to do this until you are at least level 11 and with decent gear/skills, you can likely take out the 4 voidwoken kidnappers before they can do anything. I think you get 2 full turns before they even try to kidnap your characters. use fire and geo on them. you can cripple them to keep them from moving as well. don't try using freeze/water attacks on them, they are immune.

                                                    • Anonymous

my main was on the top right corner of the map, surrounded by numerous ennemies... Was I unlucky or was that just an update thing ?

i just waypoint ported back to driftwood with all my guys. regrouped and went back. you can find a tunnel with enough wits that will send you back to the lower lvl. the tunnel is located in the same area where you fought the first voidwoken .

                                                          • Anonymous

Anybody know how to nab the "Lost Chest"? You can see it when you're on the top level of the cave, where you first enter. If you go all the way to the back, where you get webbed and taken, if you look beside the overhanging piece of debris, there's a chest with traps around it sitting in a wreck. There's more boat debris below it with the mast of that bottom ship resting on the lip of the debris with the chest in it.

The funny things you can use teleportation pyramids.... and also you can transfer the teleportation to each companion.... is that a bug?

Well, that was stupidly designed. My teleporter pyramids were taken from me in Love Has a Price quest and wandering in the Wrecker's Cave is a part of the way to get back my belongings. I effectively have no mean of getting my team back together. Game over.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                      • Anonymous
