"You're safe among friends. Never forget it." |
Ada Laird is an NPC in Divinity: Original Sin II.
Ada Laird information
- Level 9
- Ada is found in Driftwood strolling around the market and chatting with vendors such as Trader Bree, Trader Haran and Trader Thun.
Ada Laird location
- Ada Laird first appears in Driftwood at Reaper's Coast.
Notes and Tips
- Tip: If one gets annoyed at her constant babbling, there are ways to neutralize her. The 1st way is to block her in with crates and barrels, so she is unable to move and continue her chatting. The 2nd way is to get the Genie Lamp, and summon him in the town square. This'll make all the NPCs neutral and attack the Genie. You can kill ~2-3 neutral NPCs before they become hostile, so use this time to neutralize the Ada once and for all.
- Ada Laird has been indicted on several charges of war crimes committed in Serbia in the 1990s. These war crimes include but not limited to, the use of chemical weapons, deployment of clandestine agent only known as "Bree," deployment of numerous bioweapons known as "vats of vinegar" and "a dozen rotten eggs." Rather than answer for her heinous crimes, she escaped the Hague using only her bare fists, and now resides in Driftwood under no supervision

smells worse over here than a dozen rotten eggs dropped in a vat of vinegar

Had to look up if there was more to this character before I offed her. Hilarious that not only is there advice on how to kill her but all the comments are about how annoying she is.
Idk if this will work again, but I was at the end of my time in Driftwood and while she was talking to Trader Bree, I just one-shotted her with my 16 lvl Beast and killed her instantly. The thing is, the fight became townspeople and my party vs the Magisters in the area, not everyone against me.Would love to go back in time to see if this works again, but for now I'll enjoy last minutes of blissful silence in this town. I never thought of trapping her w/barrels etc as described above, will definitely try that immediately next time

Summon incarnate somewhere away and hide as a barrel. Switch to incarnate and go kill her. Wait until the incarnate dies or summon another one to dispel the killer. Easy silence with no consequences as long as none of your characters join the fight. Turns out it's not that safe among friends.

I was a good guy the whole game until she drive me nuts, Just killed her with an unmasked undead character, and then just escaped, greatest choice i have ever made, no regrets.

Serbian here, we still live in fear of what this monster has done. One day you will face justice Ada !

I used a combination of smelly fish barrels and crates to imprison her in the town center, out of speaking range of anyone else. Now she finally has to answer for her crimes in Serbia with life imprisonment. You can't run from the law forever, Ada.

After spending hours selling my inventory at the square, every single one of her lines has become ingrained in my soul, forever echoing and haunting my mind.
And yet, she's still not as bad as the town crier.

Playing Lone Wolf w/one other character. Level 11. I stood on the dock where the kids were before (I had already completed that quest), teleported her next to me and killed her. Was able to kill her in one turn but unfortunately my 6AP was up after that. The town went nuts, but when it was my turn again I used Tactical Retreat to fly over the dock into a shallow part of water, and then able to flee combat. My other character wasn't ever part of it. When we both went back, everything was 100% normal, except the blessed silence of a dead Ada. I'm still laughing with joy.

wow did not expect to find so many similar minded people here. One thing larian have improved upon from the first game is they made the blabbering npc's non essential

If it wasn't for the following Nexus mod, I wouldn't have been able to endure a second playthrough since she drove me absolutely nuts on my first:
"Instant Death for Ada Laird" (also includes an optional script for killing off that damn town crier).

I just stood on the dock to the south of the square, teleported her under the stall to the immediate east and squashed her with a shield toss.
To get out, Use teleporter pyramid, a character with escape artist, or just run to the children standing on the dock to the west, where you should be able to flee normally if the guards haven't had their turn yet.
This will stop the maddening banter in Drifwood square without you having to murder everyone. The traders will be upset but with about 500 gold's worth of gifts to each of the main 3 they'll forget about it.

talk to her with one character near the fire books seller, cast (with another character) telleportation on that character to place him on the shore with the boat and the corpse near the entrance.
Ada will follow the character that was talking to her... no one will hear her there.

Protip: Have each of your characters talk with each of the Merchants at the square individually, and she'll just wander from booth to booth without talking to anyone, lol. You can still trade with your whole party, too.

She did my head in so I hid my guy far away on the tower near entrance, then summoned a Incarnate to go kill her.

Hi, here is what we did to box her in for a semi quiet Merchant square. https://imgur.com/IooMDIa

This NPC nearly drove me insane with her cycle of small-talk. That is, until I figured out that at the point X:337 Y:117, the point directly west of the statue where the grass intersects with the cobblestone... Ada makes a brief pause which allows you to trap her by surrounding her with barrels. From this point, everyone is too far away from her, so she stands there quietly.

Quite possibly the most frustrating NPC in the game. It is recommended to relay teleport her to outside of the square and kill her.
Keeping it together, bree?
