AnonymousSince there is no information about it anywhere else, here is some information about the wager he proposes regarding Malady. You can choose to bet 500 gold that Malady will succeed or that she will fail. After you do the task on the island that the Advocate requests, Malady will leave and Basatan will change locations. When spoken to, he will reveal that Malady failed and give 1000 gold to your party if you bet on this outcome. It appears that there are no consequences, alternate outcomes, or exp associated with this; You simply gain 500 gold if you bet that Malady will fail.

On my play-through he dropped all his gold 16k, or maybe that was the gold of the things i bought? Im not sure

After you killed him you can talk to his spirit, apparently he was possessed by a demon. But sadly there was nothing to do with him so I sucked his source lol

I think the screenshot of the armor, Emrach, must be from a modded game (or, less likely, this armor was significantly nerfed in a patch).
In my unmodded DE playthrough, this item is different in three ways (and identical in every other way):
1. It does not provide resistance to physical damage.
2. It does not grant a skill.
3. Its maximum value is substantially less (5300).
