Oftentimes, in good RPGs, you will meet people that have their own story or drama, and have a meaningful or funny discussion with them. Even if they are not involved in any quest. It is very much like in real life, except, they tend to be more colorful in RPGs for obvious reasons. This is about populating a gameworld with proper life. But the "Pet Pal" concept allows Larian to add animals to this. The world of Divinity Original Sin is extremely bleak. Larian didn't do a good job at translating this on screen. You end up walking amongst corpses and watching ruin, destruction, and the world end on an upbeat note. Even Knile's underground was more gory than anything. I guess the color palette is for something in this. The tone lacks something to involve the player emotionnally in the drama that is displayed. The music, too, which, as opposed to DOS I's Hall of Echoes music, doesn't make you feel this depressing nostalgia you always need to return to. You really felt the "End of Times". Not so much in DOSII. I am not sure this was meant to be like this. Still, from time to time, you will be reminded that this world is dying, and that not even a [Hero] can solve everything, or even, has the time to spare to even try. The bear cub is very much about this. An attempt to remind the player that the situation in-game is extremely depressing. The blind Magister Loke, not far, and the letter he has on him, are completely about this, too.

Ah, to hell with y'all writers. This quest has zero business being in the game. It is just a big F U to all the players. -10/10 for that one. And another -10 for having a ressurrection spell that Only target party members. Why the **** limit it at all?!?

Sad quest, it goes really no where and after it finds the mother nothing happens. Wish there was more to it.

Larian Studios, you have some twisted ideas about what an enjoyable gaming experience is. At the very LEAST the player could have been given a hint at who or what killed the mother bear and exacted vengeance. Makes me glad I didn't bother with Baldur's Gate 3. Is my comment ridiculous? To most, probably, but I don't care. Animals matter just as much as humans do.

Teleport his mom to harbor and he'll go there instead, at which point he'll help with the voidwoken fight.

With the "cut the cord" line followed by use of the Hero tag, you can at least give the bear a bit of a pep talk and end the conversation on a more upbeat note.

Wish there was something more to do here. Talked to the cub, told it about it's mother, took 5 min to walk over and cry over its mother, the end...???
