This page is wrong about what you get from Sang upon killing him. While you do get the xp from him, no loot drops.

Wish we could save him. Poor guy, I couldn't even one shot him due to his ridiculous amount of armor. He went painfully I reckon.

Hey everyone. Thought Id tune in here. The source pool that is in there isn't for Magister Sang. It is for the switch. Cast Bless on the Switch and then you can use it and the door will open! :)

As of at least patch v3.0.151.229 (and possibly earlier), casting Bless on Magister Sang does not remove the "Decomposing" status at all, not even temporarily. Bless has no effect on Decomposing, not on this character or any of the other decomposing characters found on the entire Fort Joy map.

It is odd that the source fountain is there. Just using bless once doesn't work, but they give you an infinite source of source. Maybe you have to chain bless him using multiple characters to keep the bless buff from running out for a certain amount of time. What happens if he stays blessed for a solid minute uninterrupted. I imagine this would be easy to pull of if you are playing with 3 other people who can coordinate cooldown timers. In the mean time i'll try and see if I can manage in my single player game.

Hey, I'd like someone to check what happens if you use "Cleanse Wounds" specifically on him, (Hydrosophist Skill book + Warfare Skill book combined) it's the only targetable skill that removes decay, and decay functions in the exact same way as decomposition.
If that doesn't work try blessing him first which does remove the debuff for a split second so be as quick as you can with the following Cleanse Wounds. Then try Cleanse Wounds and bless the water that Cleanse Wounds creates quickly.

I actually teleported him on top of the source puddle. He sucked up 3 of em but it did nothing in the end. But he did become targetable for the purge but still, nothing.

Have you guys tried purging him with the purging wand or the helmet, cause I've already killed him and I haven't tried purging him. Maybe that's why the helmet was near.

someone said blood rain + blessing the blood under Sang, not blessing him, but the blood beneath him, did not work for me though, maybe i do it wrong

is there no way to help him? you would think with a source container right there that you would need to use bless on him but nope, it does nothing.
from the comments i guess im not the only one who can't help him.
feels like quite a lot of the quests here are either unfinished or rushed...

There must be a way to help him or it would not give you it as an option, Blessing dose not work. Maybe there is something latter on in the game that would be of help.
Unless some one else has an other idea. (This would be the same for the Seekers you find as well, however you help Maigster Sang would be the same way to help them it would think. As they have the same status on them.)

Dunno if I messed up but I couldn't remove decay/decomposing off of him. Tried blessing him directly and raining + blessing the water.

When I encountered him he was afflicted with decomposing, not decaying. I assume it's the cursed version, like necrofire.

Gained 1700xp for avoiding a fight with him and offering to put him out of his misery.
For a game about striving toward divinity, it always annoyed me how there are a ton of sympathetic NPCs in this game you're utterly powerless to actually help along the way.
