No Laughing Matter Objectives
- Find Mudbarrow with Spirit Vision (X:480 Y:446).
- Discover the location of the treasure by questionning Slumberjack in his sleep.
- Tell Mudbarrow you found the treasure and to go rest now.
No Laughing Matter Walkthrough
If you cast Spirit Vision at the sawmill at the left-most building, you will find a spirit named Mudbarrow. He wants you to question a sleeping Lone Wolf in order to locate a chest that she hid after she killed him.
Question Slumberjack at sawmill for the location of the loot and then kill her. (If you had already killed her before talking to Mudbarrow, this quest cannot be completed normally.)
Afterwards, head to the revealed location with high Wit (18+) and then dig up the chest and loot it. Return to Mudbarrow after you're done to tell him to move on, and he will reward you with EXP and gold.
Note: If you've killed Slumberjack prior to questioning her, the location of the chest is found along the shore on the water just west of Mudbarrow's building. (X:458 Y:447)

If you killed Slumberjack AND looted the chest before starting the quest; return to the chest, put your own gold in, step away and loot it again. The quest will then recognize that you got the gold from the chest so you can complete it.

If you killed Slumberjack already, go to the shore west of Mudbarrow, cast Clear-minded (need 18 wits) and dig up the chest. When you talk to Mudbarrow again remember to talk with the character you initiated the quest with.

"Mudbarrow has rewarded us for our effort" - I finished the quest but didn't get a reward besides the chest and the XP

It's possible to complete the quest without talking to Slumberjack, simply find the chest with the gold. It's located on the beach west of Mudbarrow, near the water's edge.
DE edition. I cleared the whole camp before I speak to those spirits. I just persuaded the spirit to go the Hall of Echos and the side quests ended.
