Silent Monk is an Enemy in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
"The creature stands completely still, fingernails pressed hard into its palms. You notice dried blood streaking its knuckles." -Narrator
Silent Monks are source purged Sourcerers that have had all their source removed from their bodies. Source Purging Sourcerers is a form of genocide against all Sourcerers in the fear of Voidwoken appearing in Rivellon. The Magisters have tried to keep its practice quiet from the rest of Rivellons civilian population by using rhetoric, fear and propaganda by sending Sourcerers to Fort Joy were they are never heard of again. The practice is considered repugnant and abhorrent by most civilized people, including the rebel group called Seekers, because it strips Sourcerers of their humanity, their hearts of emotion, and their minds of memory and thought. Essentially, rendering Sourcerers into zombies. It is believed that The Magisters not only purge Sourcerers due to their fear of Voidwoken, but the practice is also utilized to bolster their ranks as labourers, slaves and shock troops in The Magister's Army.
