A Fate Worse Than Death is a Quest in Divinity: Original Sin II. 

This quest is automatically acquired when you enter the tower within Gargoyle's Maze.

Objectives

1. Destroy the soul jars of the undead necromancers, to release their souls and permanently destroy them.

Walkthrough

• Upon entering Braccus Rex's tower, you will see a room with three necromancers, talking to them will reveal that they've been eternally bound to unlife by Braccus Rex, and that to be free they'd need to either steal your source or have their soul jars broken. You will either need to fight them or pass a speech check to leave the conversation.

• The soul jars can be found in the vault of the  Dark Cavern from The Vault of Braccus Rex.

• Either consume or destroy all three of the souls to update the quest.

Tips & Tricks

• The undead will respawn reasonably quickly after they're beaten, assuming you haven't broken their soul jars, so try not to tarry by their bodies.
